A warn and sunny afternoon, time for potting on my tomatoes.
This year I am trying a new to me variety called Glacier, the seeds sown in mid February are now ready to pot on.
After selecting the pots I want to use, making sure they have good drainage holes,
I put a saucer of pebbles or small stones at the base,
then half fill with a mixture of
50% Farmyard Manure and 50% Compost.
Fill up with general purpose compost, plant tomatoes and water in well.
Glacier tomato is one of
the earliest maturing varieties available withstanding far colder conditions
than any other.
A compact potato leafed 3ft variety producing 2-3in bright red
fruits of excellent flavour. Performs
well in cooler seasons readily setting fruit and continuing to produce over a
long period.
Grow on under cooler conditions and when about 8 inches tall gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions
and plant out 18 inches apart
after all danger of frost has passed
in a warm and sunny spot in moist, fertile
well drained soil and keep watered.

PS. Make sure during April and May they are protected from frost.
